'Pope John Paul ll '

 Pope John Paul II, born Karol VVojtyla on May 18, 1920, began his theological studies in a “secret serninary” during the World War II occupation of Poland. He was ordained into the priesthood, November I, I 946 (The Feast of All Saints), in the private chapel, of  Cardinal Sapieha.  Quickly he became recognized as a leader and in 1965 he was among those who created the "Declaration on Religious Liberty". Elected Pope by the College of Cardinals in I 978, he was the first non-Italian Pope in more than 450 years.
