Osceola

Osceola was the 'master spirit' of the Seminole wars. He could not claim hereditary rights to the post of chief but his courage and aggressive stand toward the white invaders led his people to  choose him over Micanopy as their leader.  Perhaps the most famous Seminole leader of all.  Osceola was known as the Napoleon of the Seminole nation.  He was captured under a flag of truce in 1837.
